brad calcaterra has a unique approach to filmmaking. brad combines many of his professional talents to create projects that honor the talents true creative spirit. brad is a writer, with an innate passion for provocative dialogue. an innovative director, brad works closely with actors, honing in on their uniqueness and true genius. also a top nyc photographer, brad creates honest images that are clean and uncomplicated. brad began his professional career by developing and managing some of the entertainment industry's newest faces. brad is the owner and director of the studio, one of nyc's top on-camera acting schools. here he teaches provocative classes, challenging his students to unleash the true creative self while pushing through fears that block expression and creativity. from these classes, cutting edge projects are developed and nurtured into production. brad's directing, writing and acting can be seen in the independent film "four eyed monsters". it was one of 10 feature films selected out of 1600 films to compete for best narrative feature at the 2005 slamdance film festival in park city, utah, gen art 2005, sxsw 2005. brad also just completed direction on the feature film "east broadway" official selection of tribeca film festival 2006. starring margaret cho, b.d.wong, fay ann lee, gale harold, and christine baranski. brad is a working actor residing in greenwiich village.
jenifer krater
jenifer krater, director and owner of the
studio brings her expertise as a ny producer, director,
acting coach to her teaching style. classes focus on developing and trusting
instiincts, following through on impulses and developing a strong sense
of artistic identity. she believes in training bold instinctive artists
with a strong emphasis on carrying a film. the studio offers a creative
environment where actors can discover a deep emotional life, reconnect with
their passion and develop a fearless approach to a role. having the opportunityto
work on both sides of the camera jenifer has applied the technical background
of filmaking to assist the actor in opening up to their brillance. jenifer
has worked with richard gere, mike newell, gavin o'connor,
peter bishai as well as appearing on broadway. she is owner of stranger
films with husband paul paglia. together they produce independent films
many of which were cast directly from the studio. while working intensely
on the instrament she also preps actors for the rigors of todays industry,
blending art and commerce and booking the part. jenifer krater is a working

sally johnson
sally johnson, founder of the sally johnson studio in nyc has trained actors in the art of film making for the past 30 years. she trained under sanford meisner, lee strasberg and charles conrad. a successful actor herself, sally opened the sally johnson studio, and began teaching "the process", which has now become the foundation of the training at the studio today. the sally johnson studio is one of the most respected and successful film acting studios in new york city. she has trained 100's of actors who are currently working in films, television and on broadway. many of her students have created their own award winning film projects. she currently guest teaches at the studio in new york and in los angeles.
cristina locastro
cristina locastro has trained extensively under jenifer krater, brad calcaterra, and sally johnson since 2001. Prior to her training at the studio, cristina studied meisner for 5 years, 3 of which were under yvonne suhor’s master/invitation only meisner-based film class. she has had the pleasure of being directed by joel schumacher, joe otting, yvonne suhor, and bob derosa in feature films, shorts, and regional theatre productions. cristina also studied acting and directing while attending the university of south florida and the university of central florida. cristina’s essentials class is geared towards the seasoned and beginning film actor. it focuses on the elemental and vital components of film acting: spontaneity developed through the use of finding and bringing one’s inner truth to the moment and lifting it up to the dialogue at hand, the nurturing and excavating of the individual’s emotional depth, listening to your gut, risk taking, the use of the breath, and finding fun and creative ways to work a shot through your artistry, thus helping to bring the actor closer to being ready for that great role.
